Elewana Tortilis Camp is one of Amboseli’s most established luxury tented camps, set within a private conservancy bordering Amboseli National Park and positioned to capture uninterrupted views of Mount Kilimanjaro. The camp sits beneath a canopy of acacia woodland, creating a cool, shaded retreat that feels deeply connected to the landscape. From almost every corner of the property, the mountain rises in the distance, anchoring the experience in one of Africa’s most iconic safari settings.
Accommodation is built around spacious, thatched canvas tents designed to combine classic safari style with refined comfort. Each tent is raised slightly off the ground and features generous sleeping areas, elegant en-suite bathrooms, and private verandas where guests can watch wildlife moving quietly across the plains. The design emphasizes natural materials and soft tones that echo the surrounding bush, allowing the camp to blend seamlessly into its environment.
The main lodge area opens toward the mountain, with a lounge, dining space, and bar that encourage slow mornings and relaxed evenings. Meals are fresh and thoughtfully prepared, often enjoyed outdoors with Kilimanjaro glowing in the distance. A swimming pool overlooking the plains offers a cool refuge during the warmest hours of the day, while sundowners bring guests together as elephants and plains game drift through the conservancy.
Tortilis is known for attentive guiding and access to both the private concession and Amboseli National Park itself. Game drives focus on the region’s famous elephant herds, predators, and prolific birdlife, while the private conservancy allows for quieter sightings away from heavier traffic. The camp combines luxury, location, and sustainability, operating fully on solar power and maintaining a strong conservation ethos that protects the fragile Amboseli ecosystem.
