About Sarara Camp
A remote community-run tented camp set in the Namunyak Community Conservancy on the edge of the Matthews Mountains in northern Kenya.
Nestled within a 150-square-mile conservancy in Northern Kenya's revered Matthews Range, Sarara Camp offers an authentic safari experience deeply intertwined with the landscape and local Samburu community. The camp's design thoughtfully integrates with the environment, providing a sense of immersion while ensuring comfort.
From the distinctive 'singing wells' where Samburu warriors water their cattle, to the rolling hills and deep valleys of this ancient mountain range, guests at Sarara are invited to connect with a thriving ecosystem. The conservancy is home to a diverse array of wildlife, including elephants, leopard, Grevy's zebra, and African wild dog, often encountered from open-sided safari vehicles or during guided walking safaris.
Beyond traditional game viewing, Sarara emphasizes cultural exchanges, offering insights into Samburu traditions and their vital role in conservation. The camp’s elevated position provides expansive views, particularly from the infinity pool where elephants are often seen at the waterhole below. Each tented room is elegantly appointed, a secluded sanctuary with an en-suite bathroom and private verandah, fostering an intimate connection with the surrounding wilderness. Sarara Camp is a destination for those seeking genuine adventure, meaningful encounters, and a profound appreciation for East Africa’s wild heart.
