About Ashnil Aruba Lodge
An oasis of comfort in Tsavo East, overlooking the historic Aruba Dam—a magnet for Kenya's iconic wildlife.
Ashnil Aruba Lodge is superbly situated in Tsavo East National Park, one of Kenya's most expansive wilderness areas. The lodge holds a privileged position on the banks of the Aruba Dam, a vast water source constructed in 1952 that serves as a magnet for the region's diverse fauna. This strategic location, easily accessible from the Kenyan coast or Nairobi, provides an authentic base for discovery. The lodge is thoughtfully designed to blend into the landscape, offering an immediate and immersive connection to the African bush from the moment of arrival.
The surrounding terrain is classic Tsavo: vast, open savannah grasslands dotted with acacia trees, allowing for unobstructed and rewarding game viewing. The park is renowned for its large herds of elephants, famously dusted in the red soil that defines the region. Guided game drives present opportunities to spot lions, buffalo, zebra, giraffes, and an array of antelope species. The Aruba Dam itself is a birder's paradise, attracting a profusion of water birds and resident raptors, ensuring that wildlife encounters remain a constant and captivating feature of the experience.
Accommodation is provided in a collection of 46 well-appointed rooms and six spacious tents, each decorated with an authentic African-inspired aesthetic. The rooms are designed to be a tranquil retreat after a day of exploration, featuring private en-suite bathrooms with both a bath and a shower, comfortable seating areas, and essential amenities. The design prioritizes comfort and a sense of place, allowing guests to relax while remaining connected to the wild Tsavo environment just beyond their door.
The main lodge building serves as the central hub, housing a welcoming restaurant and bar. Its open-plan dining area offers panoramic views across the Aruba Dam, enabling guests to observe animals at the water's edge during meals. The culinary team presents a varied buffet of international and traditional African cuisine. For midday relaxation, a sparkling swimming pool offers a welcome respite from the heat, while a shaded wooden deck provides the perfect vantage point for watching the landscape transform at sunset. A dedicated spa also offers treatments for deeper relaxation between safari adventures.
