About Asilia - Dunia Camp

Intimate tented camp in the central Serengeti offering authentic bush experiences

Asilia - Dunia Camp sits quietly in a valley in the central Serengeti, a comfortable drive from Seronera Airstrip and within easy reach of the Moru Kopjes and the Seronera River. Operated entirely by an exceptionally skilled team of women, the camp pairs polished hospitality with a genuine sense of place. Its position lies directly in the path of the Great Migration, yet it remains tucked away from the busiest tracks, offering grand Serengeti panoramas and a calm base between game drives. Wildlife viewing is rewarding year-round. Lion and cheetah patrol the short-grass plains, leopards drape themselves in sausage trees, and elephant and buffalo wander the riverine corridors. The nearby Moru area is one of the few Serengeti strongholds for black rhino, while the seasonal movements of wildebeest and zebra sweep past the camp twice yearly. From June to September the dry season concentrates predators around water sources; October to January brings fresh grasses and an influx of migratory birds; February and March typically coincide with calving on the southern plains and dramatic predator–prey interactions. Activities focus on unhurried game drives in open-sided vehicles, tailored to the day’s conditions and guests’ interests. Early departures make the most of cool mornings; leisurely picnic breakfasts or lunches allow full-day explorations of Seronera’s river systems, the Moru boulders, and the wide, open plains. Dawn hot-air ballooning over the central Serengeti can be arranged for a sweeping perspective and memorable photography, followed by a champagne-style breakfast on landing. Accommodation is in eight spacious, canvas tents, including a family tent. Each features an en suite bathroom with plumbed hot-water shower, flush toilet, and eco-friendly amenities; solar power, Wi‑Fi, and charging points come as standard. Private verandas look onto the savannah, ideal for birdwatching between drives. A welcoming lounge and bar, small library, and firepit create convivial spaces to relax and share the day’s sightings. Dining is relaxed and thoughtful: fresh, seasonal dishes served under canvas or out on the deck beneath a wash of stars. Children aged five and above are welcome, and complimentary laundry service lightens the packing. Open all year, Dunia works beautifully as a standalone Serengeti base or combined with northern or southern sectors for a broader view of the ecosystem.
